Testimonial – Remote Working from Ireland

Posted by Mike

I was very pleased to get an email today from the Series Producer of ‘The Hairy Bikers Food of Britain‘ (the show is still running on BBC Two – the final 5 episodes go out next week I think). I’d provided title logo, title graphics and content maps for all 30 episodes). Anyway – this is what he said :

Hi Mike

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the work you did on The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour of Britain. All of your graphics were of brilliant quality and the look that you gave to the title sequence and maps was really classy and high end.

Thanks also for working so quickly and efficiently from concept through to delivery. The fact that you were working remotely made absolutely no difference to the standard of, and speed with which we got, your work. Posting files for us on your site to download worked seamlessly every time.

Hopefully we’ll work together on another project very soon.

Thanks again – much appreciated.

Dave

Of course it’s always nice to get a ‘thank you’ from a satisfied client. But I was particularly chuffed by this email. First, I’d never met the producer in person. Also, he’d found me through this website (which proves at least that some of my tentative SEO efforts have paid off).

But more importantly, it was a real test of remote working for broadcast clients in the UK. All the briefings were done by phone or email, preliminary design ideas were presented via this site, and all the finished graphics were done entirely remotely from my studio here in (lovely) Leitrim, Ireland. I uploaded all the video files on to this site and the guys at Cactus TV downloaded them at the other end.

Of course there’s probably still going to be occasions where a face-to-face is called for. But for the time being, Mohill’s the place to be…
