This is a variant of Icon Set TV-02, modified slightly to reflect the most current incarnation of the classic BBC Weather symbols. The raindrop is now a single flat blue colour, and the cloud shape is hollow.

This is a slightly modified variant of Weather Icon Set TV-02 – the clouds are now hollow, and the raindrop is a single flat colour. While I was at it, I also made the sun colour very slightly warmer. The white elements have also been darkened very slightly to allow these icons to appear on a pure white (#FFF) background.

Like the other ‘TV style’ sets, this pack now includes icons for 92 weather conditions – these include some icons that were missing from the original ‘standard’ set (e.g. drizzle, windy, tropical storm) and also a number of other weather conditions required by various data suppliers’ condition codes (e.g. volcanic ash, smoke, thunder with snow, thunder with hail, freezing drizzle, etc.)

In this pack you get a single zipped file containing the complete set of weather icons as individual PNG images, each at four different pixel sizes – 64×64, 128×128, 256×256 and extra large 512×512 to suit any web-based weather application.

Also included is a complete set of all 92 icons in vector format (SVG).

Also included in this pack is a special bonus set especially for World Weather Online API users with every icon for day and night correctly assigned and filenamed according to the original WWO condition code number eg. 284.png (=heavy freezing drizzle). This should allow very easy implementation without remapping or renaming – although you still may wish to download the new mapping table provided on the right for future reference.

This weather symbol set was originally designed specifically as an alternative for those wanting to use the famous BBC symbols without the worry of potential copyright infringement.

The symbols on sale here are a safe, legal and royalty-free alternative, designed by award-winning former BBC Weather Centre graphic designer Mike Afford.

These icons appear with transparent backgrounds.

An alternative set with transparent backgrounds is also available (TV-02) as well as the original set with solid backgrounds (TV-01) colour-coded to show blue sky, hazy, or overcast conditions (day or night).
