The animated icons are each saved as a single strip of images, and can be animated by showing each image position in turn. The number of individual frames in each animation varies according to the weather type (for example, rain is displayed using a 16-frame loop, with a modest 20kB file-size). 35 out of the 40 symbols are animated - each with seamlessly looping precipitation generated using Trapcode's Particular plug-in for After Effects.

These are all GIF images - with individually optimised palettes and duplicate pixel compression to keep file sizes small. Seamlessly looping animations of 2 or 3 seconds at 25 frames per second for visually smooth movement throughout). The first frame of each animation is identical to the equivalent static symbol in set 1 above - so these can easily be used in combination with the above sets if required.
