A complete set of 40 weather icons. The animated icons are each saved as a single strip of images, and can be animated by showing each image position in turn. The number of individual frames in each animation varies according to the weather type (for example, rain is displayed using a 16-frame loop, with a modest 20kB file-size). 35 out of the 40 symbols are animated - each with seamlessly looping precipitation generated using Trapcode's Particular plug-in for After Effects.

All precipitation comes in 'light' and 'heavy' versions, and of course there's night time ones too...
These examples have been animated with Artlogic's FREE Spritely plugin for jQuery (see spritely.net).
This seamless looping weather animation set has been designed and built by former BBC Weather Centre Graphic Designer Mike Afford as an alternative for those wanting to use the BBC's icons without the worry of potential copyright infringement. Below is a still snapshot showing all 40 weather types.
This symbol set has been designed from scratch, and now features real Irish clouds throughout (the original BBC weather icons use British clouds!).
