Promotion video for the MxV1, a new revolutionary putter design. 3D animation and post production by Mike Afford Media.

Here’s the recently completed promotional video for the MxV1 – a revolutionary putter with a curved surface that matches the diameter of the golf ball ensuring a perfect hit each time.

The MxV1 Putter is based on the principals of Newton’s Cradle (MxV = mass x velocity = momentum).

“The radius of our putter face is exactly that of a standard US Golf Ball (1.68 inches) and even with a minor tolerance we have found more accurate strikes and optimal roll” says Brian Wittman (inventor of the MxV1) “By essentially striking a ball with another ball, you almost can’t miss the center of gravity.

The 3D animation for this video was all done in Cinema 4D using a supplied Solidworks model of the putter head converted to .fbx using Rhino3D.

The editing and post production is all in After Effects with, among others, Trapcode Particular and Magic Bullet Looks 2.0.

The soundtrack is all built using Pro Scores from videocopilot.net

2011 showreel from Mike Afford Media - a short promo reel featuring award winning TV graphics - channel branding, motion design, realtime and 3D graphics, Virtual Studio design and loads more. All in just over a minute.

Just a quick heads up to say the new Mike Afford Media promo reel is finally online. You can choose to watch it here on mikeafford.com which should be viewable (thanks to the miracle that is HTML5 with Flash fallback) on most browers and certain shiny smartphones. Or if you prefer you can always head over to the Mike Afford Media YouTube Channel and watch it there, or check the slightly higher quality version over on Vimeo

The reel takes the from of a spoof movie trailer (sorry – no voiceover…!) and has examples of our channel branding, titles, motion graphics, 3D graphics and as they say, ‘much much more…’. Here’s a few stills to give you an idea.

Please have a look at the showreel and pass the word around…!

I’ve just completed a little 50 second web commercial for textatrack.co.uk – it’s been put together entirely from scratch with After Effects, using 3D animations and Photoshop layers. The 3D phone and laptop models were bought in separately and modified by me using Cinema 4D.The background music is one of my own tracks – I chose it from my own back catalogue because it ended with a nice little ’sting’ which matched what I was planning for the logo resolve at the end.

I also rendered out a 1024×576 version too which I’ve tried out on YouTube. The size seems just about right for YouTube to process a single acceptable quality version (rather than having a separate ‘high quality’ link and showing a low res version by default). It may have more to do with frame rate though – some of my other videos were uploaded at the same size, but at 25fps and I’m thinking this might trigger the low-resolution default and ‘watch in high quality’ link option. The YouTube version of the textatrack web movie was output from After Effects at 20fps and then converted separately to MP4 using MPEG Streamclip.

Here’s the YouTube version running at 560 pixel width.

About TEXTATRACK.CO.UK

It really is a neat idea – a way of paying for legal music downloads without needing a credit card. Every song on the site has a unique number associated with it. You just text ‘track’ and the number to 83262 (UK) – you get a text back with a PIN that you enter to download that track from the site. The mobile phone is charged so there’s no mucking about with credit cards. A US version of the site textatrack.com is launching soon.
