As part of my Online Video Marketing Services, I’ve just completed a little 50 second web commercial for textatrack.co.uk – it’s been put together entirely from scratch with After Effects, using 3D animations and Photoshop layers. The 3D phone and laptop models were bought in separately and modified by me using Cinema 4D.The background music is one of my own tracks – I chose it from my own back catalogue because it ended with a nice little ’sting’ which matched what I was planning for the logo resolve at the end.

I also rendered out a 1024×576 version too which I’ve tried out on YouTube. The size seems just about right for YouTube to process a single acceptable quality version (rather than having a separate ‘high quality’ link and showing a low res version by default). It may have more to do with frame rate though – some of my other videos were uploaded at the same size, but at 25fps and I’m thinking this might trigger the low-resolution default and ‘watch in high quality’ link option. The YouTube version of the textatrack web movie was output from After Effects at 20fps and then converted separately to MP4 using MPEG Streamclip.

Here’s the YouTube version running at 560 pixel width.

You can see the original version (with Flash encoding done at this end) in the web video section of my main site.

About TEXTATRACK.CO.UK

It really is a neat idea – a way of paying for legal music downloads without needing a credit card. Every song on the site has a unique number associated with it. You just text ‘track’ and the number to 83262 (UK) – you get a text back with a PIN that you enter to download that track from the site. The mobile phone is charged so there’s no mucking about with credit cards. A US version of the site textatrack.com is launching soon.
